  • Adjust the rise poppers so that the nappy comes to just below the baby's belly button.
  • Pinch crotch of the nappy so that it sits nicely between baby's legs.

Step 3. Remove Nappy

Dispose of solids into the toilet.

Remove boosters and liners from nappies.

Step 4.
Store in bucket

Store dirty nappies, boosters and any reusable liners in our Hanging nappy pail. Store nappies until you have a full load, but do not leave soiled nappies unwashed for longer than three days.

Step 5. Wash

Wash on a full, long cycle at 40 or 60 degrees.

Use a full dose of detergent, and follow package guidelines for dosage according to conditions. We recommend powder detergent.

Step 6. Dry

Line drying in direct sunshine is best as the sun naturally bleaches the fabric and it’s free and kind to the planet.

Near, but not touching, a heat source like a radiator is also good and the nappies can also be dried on a low heat in the drier.

Excessive high heat in a dryer will affect the life-span of the nappies but is OK every now and then in an emergency.

Still got questions on how to wash?

We've got you covered!

What happens with the poo?

Our fleecy nappy liners are non-absorbent so poo should fall away easily when held over the toilet. Shake off as much solid waste as possible directly into the toilet.
For exclusively breast-fed babies, you don't need to worry about removing the milky solids, as their poop is water-soluble!
For easier cleanup of sticky or solid poop, we suggest using our disposable liners, which are thin sheets made from plant-based fibers. Once soiled, simply pick up the liner with the mess, shake the solids into the toilet, and throw the liner in the garbage. Do not flush.

Can I use Fabric softener, bleach or other additives?

When washing cloth nappies, it's important to use a detergent without fabric softener. Many parents prefer powder detergents, but liquid detergents are also great choices, as some are hypoallergenic and don't leave as much residue on fabrics compared to powders. Residue build-up often results from fatty acids in dirty laundry mixing with minerals in hard water. To ensure your nappies are thoroughly clean, use a detergent with plenty of surfactants, don't skimp on the detergent dosage, and make sure there's plenty of agitation during the wash cycle.

How do I get rid of stains of cloth nappies ?

For stubborn stains, try placing your washed nappies and inserts in direct sunlight, as the UV rays can naturally bleach out the stains. If sun-bleaching isn't an option, consider a deep clean using non-chlorine bleach (ensure thorough rinsing) or a detergent with oxygenated bleach. You can also spot-treat stains with a detergent and water mixture or use a stain remover. Be sure to wash the diapers again after spot treatment.
